Barefooting: The Benefits of Earthing

For safety, all electrical systems, from homes and factories to large power grids, are connected to the Earth. Any electrical circuit that’s not properly grounded builds up a dangerous amount of static electricity.

The introduction of 5G technology, cellphone towers on every corner, and computers in every home have made our environment a highly charged one. How does this affect our physical and emotional health?

If you’ve been feeling frazzled lately, reconnecting your body to the earth may provide welcome relief. So kick off your shoes, and read on to learn about earthing, an easy method of grounding yourself using the planet’s natural energy.

Reconnect and Revitalize

Research into earthing has been scant thus far, but doctors are now discovering that healing may be accelerated by connecting with negatively charged electrons on the earth’s surface. The practice of earthing is thought to stabilize the entire physiology and provide holistic benefits, such as:

  • Reduced inflammation
  • Improved sleep
  • A boost to immunity
  • A better ability to manage stress
  • Pain reduction
  • Improved blood and lymph flow to the heart

Earthing enthusiasts experience profound effects and report feeling more relaxed and happier. But what do scientists say?

5G, EMFs and The Science Behind Earthing

The vibrant state of health that our ancestors enjoyed seemingly disappeared after the Industrial Revolution. Long workdays led to a decline in general health, and even epidemics and quarantine, as people spent more time indoors.

We started spending our entire lives high above the ground in tall buildings, as our proximity to the earth slowly deteriorated, and our connection to machines and the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) they produce increased.

Today, we have cell phones and 5G towers emitting huge amounts of electromagnetic pollution. It’s no wonder so many people are turning to alternative therapies to deal with this onslaught. Scientific American reports that the FCC set new 5G EMF exposure limits according to dangerously outdated standards dating back to the 1990s.

Our bodies are simply enduring too much of a disruptive positive charge, which can create an electron imbalance. This instability within the very core of our being puts us at risk for degenerative disease and unnecessary emotional tension.

In nature, free electrons provide a negative electric charge that keeps animals and plants healthy. Free electrons are released by heavenly events, such as lightning and solar radiation. Fortunately, humans also have a simple solution for healing called “earthing.”

Earthing Methods

There are multiple ways to perform earthing. The method you choose depends upon where you live, the weather, and the availability of private outdoor space.

Outdoors

The easiest, most economical way to perform earthing, or grounding, is to walk around outside barefoot. Feet, hands, or even laying out your entire body on the sand at the beach can ground you. Did you ever feel amazing after a day at the ocean? That’s because you got your required dose of negative ions.

There are no rules! Many earthers include meditation as part of the process and go into a meditative state while earthing in a beautiful outdoor sanctuary. You can create a special environment in your own backyard or any area where you know you can relax uninterrupted.

Earthing Mats

If you cannot spend time outside, there are ways to get grounded inside. An “earthing mat” is one way to accomplish this.

Earthing mats are made of vinyl or vinyl-free polyurethane resin and infused with carbon. The top layer is conductive and connected through a ground cord to the ground port of an electrical outlet. The ground port is the third hole of the outlet. If your home was built after 1950, most of your electrical outlets have a ground port, which is commonly used for earthing products.

Think outside of the box when using an earthing mat. Put it across your body while you watch television. Some fans claim to achieve real benefit by putting the mat under their feet while working on a computer. Mats are easy to pack up and move, and can also be brought on trips so you can ground yourself while away from home.

Sleep in Materials That Ground You

Earthing sheets provide an electrostatic shield of protection while you sleep. Conductive material like silver is woven through the fabric. This material is connected to a wire plugged into a grounding port, just like the earthing mat mentioned above.

Full bedding sheet ensembles are available for purchase, or you can opt for a half sheet that can be used on any size bed, futon, or couch. You may prefer an earthing mat that you can place on top of your mattress. Either way, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed.

Connect to the Earth to Heal Mind, Body, and Spirit

Earthing is an innovative trend for the 21st century. As technology evolves, so does our knowledge of how to protect ourselves from its harmful effects.

Whether you decide to dig your toes in the sand or use a grounding product while working on a computer, earthing is a wonderful way to enhance your wellbeing. Restoring your body’s natural electrical balance will revitalize your body, mind, and soul.
